The end of the line for the DC StreetcarI took this photo of the DC Streetcar in Washington, D.C., on September 23, which was the day of the autumnal equinox in Washington. The significance of that day is that the sun rises directly from the east and sets directly to the west. Since the H Street corridor in northeast D.C. runs directly east and west, this meant I could line up a really nice sunrise with the DC Streetcar. I've taken photos like this one during the equinox a few times before. I really like the DC Streetcar and the H Street corridor. I was there when the city first launched the streetcar in 2016. While the streetcar only traveled up and down the H Street corridor, I had high hopes that the city would extend the DC Streetcar to other neighborhoods as well. Sadly, the DC government recently announced that DC Streetcar service will end on March 31, 2026. This means that my photo above will be my very last photo of the streetcar during the equinox and it's a sad ending to an era.
